I know that I usually post pictures, which are far more interesting that just reading words, however, since this is a blog, I feel that I should at least give a few words of wisdom. So, I'm starting a new section on "Things that made sense to me as a kid." I think that children have such a simplistic way of looking at life that things actually make better sense. When you grow up and realize all of the complexities, you often see that sometimes situations become impossible. Therefore, every now and then, I'm going to write about something that just made more sense to me when I was a kid and I just didn't understand why grown-up didn't catch on. My first topic is traffic. I never understood traffic. I remember being in the car for countless hours as a kid on roadtrips. We went to Panama City, Florida, Roanoke and Staunton, Virginia...actually, just about anywhere that the normal person would fly to, my parents liked to take the scenic route. So, from my view in the mini-van, I would watch traffic for hours and hours. And I never understood how a traffic light would turn green and it would take several seconds for our car, 10 cars back to start moving. It seemed to me that if every driver pulled forward on the green light, we'd all move right away. Why was it necessary to wait for car after car to move when if we all moved at once, we wouldn't hit the one in front. But no. Instead slowly, but surely, like a slow relay, car after car would start to go forward. And the strangest thing would happen. We still wouldn't get through that light. Just something to think about. If all cars constantly moved at the same time, we would never sit still. You heard it here first!
